Hijabifying Fashion: Mod Cloth

20 Sep

I found Mod Cloth through a fashion blog that i subscribe to and I fell in love! Everything is affordable and they have such a great variety of styles, colors and patterns. A lot of their stuff is hijabi-friendly so I decided to pick out three of my favorite dresses and make outfits for them!

This outfit is vintage-inspired and is for anyone who loves plaid, bows and little jackets! I love the color seafoam, it is so calming and looks good on any complexion.
Do you like to dress a little more on the wild side? Here is a dress that is bright and one-of-a-kind! This little purse is amazing and I love adding the animal print flats and hijab.
I looove vintage-inspired outfits (can you tell? haha) so this skirt is great and has a 40’s feel. The flats have little bows and the hijab has a beautiful floral pattern.
p.s. Navy is my new favorite color! Isn’t it stunning?

Hijabifying Fashion: Karen Walker

15 Sep

As most of you know, this week is Fashion Week in NYC! I have a few friends who are there this week as photographers and makeup artists and it sounds like it has been really exciting and inspiring so far. I was looking through many of the collections that have been shown in the last few days and there is so much to work with!

One of absolute favorites was the Karen Walker 2010 Ready-to-Wear line. Not only is it more affordable than the couture pieces, each of these designs are flowing, comfortable and fun! I chose my three favorite pieces and made hijabi-style outfits to go with them.

I think that this dress (and matching bag) are my favorites from her collection! It is such a fun print and can be dressed up or made casual. I would wear this with wide leg navy pants, a colorful hijab and some nautical-inspired shoes.

This dress is a similar pattern but more subtle and refined. This is a perfect option for those who don’t like to wear big prints but want to dress up in a unique way. I would make this a more classy outfit by adding pearls, a muted silk hijab and some heels. This cardigan by Marc Jacobs is my favorite part of the outfit!

This dress is stunning! It drapes so beautifully and can be for a night out or made more funky and casual. I would wear this and make it more edgy by adding some fun heels, a leather jacket and an unusual hijab.
Which outfit is your favorite?

Hijabifying Fashion: Missoni

19 Aug

Salaam sisters! Here is another edition of “Hijabifying Fashion” and this comes straight from the runway! Missoni’s fall collection is amazing, filled with chunky knits and muted tones. Although much of this collection is too skimpy and tight to be hijab fashion proper, it is definitely an inspiration for us to add more texture to our wardrobes! I love the way different fabrics and colors are layered, it creates a funky look!

Hijabifying Fashion: Mad Men

17 Aug

So as many of you may know, the third season of “Mad Men” began last night. I personally don’t watch the show, but I absolutely adore the fashions. The show takes place in the advertising world of the 1950’s and the style is impeccable, classy and modest. I hijabified this type of fashion and love it! The floral scarf is light and comfortable and the vintage pumps add a touch of flair to the outfit. Of course, make sure you put a cute blazer on top or even a vintage cardigan. It would be really cute to wear to the office, to a dinner party or to the park for a picnic!

I am starting a new catagory of posting about taking non-hijab fashion and making it suitable for us hijabis. There are so many beautiful and amazing designers and fashions out there for us to work with…we just need to be a little creative!

This post is showcasing the designs of Devi Kroell. Her styles are beautiful and there is such a simple yet elegant symmetry to the pieces. You should definitely check her styles out! Here are a few of my favorites:
