abaya style: toughen up!

17 Mar

salaam! i received an email from a sister who loves the coverage and comfort when wearing an abaya but she feels that she looks too frilly and proper in them. she asked me if i could put together an abaya outfit that was edgy and more tough. i am in LOVE with these boots, if only they weren’t so expensive. you could easily put this outfit together. play around with vests and sweaters on top of your abaya and you will make an outfit that is anything but boring!

Cranberry and Cream

Salaams all! Insh’Allah you are having a wonderful Ramadan. I can’t believe that it is halfway over! This halfway point is a good reminder to be extra disciplined and reflective before this blessed month is finished.

Insh’Allah I will have a video post on that topic in the next few days!

This Eid outfit is elegant and easy to put together. I love this cranberry abaya, it flows so nicely. I would pair it with gold and cream accessories. This cream and gold Turkish scarf is lovely and the gold sandals are comfortable yet stylish. I personally don’t wear high heels so I always like to put together outfits with flats or sandals that still look classy.

Articles, Festivals and Outfits, Oh My!

Our sister Ange over at Hegab-Rehab wrote a fabulous guest post over at Muslim Girl. She talks about beauty and confidence in wearing the hijab while staying modest.

In other news…

We went to an art festival today! All of the art was so beautiful, mashAllah and they had music, dancing and food (the food smelled so good and made me hungry haha). There were performers from the Indonesian Consulate and they danced and performed theater. Here is a picture of them:

I also wanted to include an Eid outfit since I haven’t posted any since Ramadan started. I personally don’t like getting too dressy for Eid, but I thought that I would make a dressy and elegant outfit for those sisters who do :)

Colorful Workout

Salaams! Yesterday we went to the Ghana Fest on the south side of Chicago. It was a beautiful day and there were hundreds of people out today in the park. There was music, vendors selling hijabs, kufis, etc. and lots of halal food! It was so nice to see so many Muslims at the festival!

For today’s outfit I made an abaya fashion fit for a workout! This abaya is super soft and comfortable for exercising in and the shoes are so cute! The bag is great as it actually has working speakers built in! Add an adorable water bottle, a turquoise hijab and a bright matching watch and you will be ready to burn those calories and be healthy!
