Ramadan Reminders: Night Of Power

16 Sep

Asalaamu alaikum sisters, inshAllah your Ramadan has been a special one.

This week’s Ramadan reminder is from Abu Eesa Niamtullah and it discusses Laylat Al-Qadr. This lecture is filled with emotion and inshAllah will remind us all of this blessed and holy night.

Ramadan Duaa: Day 27

ALLAH, on this day, bestow on me the blessings of Laylatul Qadr, change my affairs from (being) difficult to (being) easy, accept my apologies, and decrease for me [my] sins and burdens, O the Compassionate with His righteous servants.

AMEEN.

Ramadan Reminders: Fasting from One’s Desires

12 Sep

Asalaamu Alaikum sisters! I can’t believe that Ramadan is almost over, everything has happened so fast! InshAllah everyone has been getting much study and reward from this blessed month.

I wanted to post a video lecture from Bilal Assad, a Lebanese Aussie who has a great way of speaking mashAllah. Thank you to A Muslima Blogs for originally posting this video!

He has many great lectures, but this one is very appropriate for this month. He discusses fasting and the true meaning of sawm, not just in food and drink but as a complete change of lifestyle.

There is also a question and answer video on You Tube that is as long as the lecture!

Ok, it is after fajr and I am very sleepy so I am going back to bed :)

Ramadan Reminders: Sheikh Anwar al Awlaki

8 Sep

Asalaamu alaikum sisters! I wanted to post another “Ramadan Reminder” as motivation for us to continue to educate ourselves and promote discussion with other Muslims as well as non-Muslims. I have been listening to a lot of lectures, Alhamdulillah and I have been trying to educate myself in various topics and listen to different opinions.

Today I am featuring Anwar al Awlaki. He is an imam from the USA but he studied and now lives in Yemen. His lectures and workshops are so wonderful, mashAllah and he gives interesting insight into topics that aren’t always discussed.

The lecture that I am featuring today is “The State of the Ummah” which discusses the direction that our ummah is going, what we need to do to strengthen our community and even the importance of jihad (oh my!)

You can find the lecture here.

What do you think? Do you agree with him? Why or why not? I would love to hear from you girls!
